REGISTERED NURSE, GI/GII 20 hours Non-union
· Assist in writing, developing, and revision of health care policies and procedures
· Organize and coordinate client care, in collaboration with the Psychiatrists, Physicians (PCP), Medical Specialists, and local Pharmacist, to ensure continuity of care
· Provide consultation, and act as a resource to group –home staff regarding issues related to client health care
· Collect and monitor medical assessment data including patient histories, vital signs, lab work, EKG’S, AIMS scale, behavioral scales, and psychotropic side effects
· Provide consultation to all case managers, and management staff in areas including health habits, nutrition, and hygiene for clients
· Collect laboratory sample/specimen(blood, urine, other body fluids) for medical assessment upon order of a physician
· Perform minor medical treatment and procedures consistent with a MD/APRN order or within the scope of practice allowed by the nurse’s licensure
· With regard to medication administration, including ensuring the accuracy of type and dosage of medication to be administered
· Oversee medication certified staff in the accurate delivery of clients required medication (s)
· Review medication logs daily for accuracy in ordering and dispensing
· Review medication policies and procedures quarterly and sign-off
· Response to emergency situations and administer first aid and first responder-basic life support if indicated
· Respond to client requests for health services and triage health concerns appropriately including utilization of the on-call physician or on site physician, if indicated
· Provide client and family education on medical issues
· Provide client instruction, both individually and in groups, on health and hygiene
· Participate in the development of a standardized, written curriculum for health and hygiene groups
· Provide client instruction, both individually and in group on health related topics, including, but not limited to sex education, HIV, STD prevention and reproductive health issues
· Provide five hours of individual session to clients in program and two weekly groups
· Assume administrative –on- call responsibilities (AOC)
